New Orleans-based paintball team is not out

Paintball Sports Promotions’ World Cup will be held Oct. 24-30 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports, Florida and it’s not going to be postponed because of Katrina. The event is so important that it will be covered by Fox Sports Network, ESPN, and OLN.

The Rock-It Kids, a paintball team from New Orleans, won their division last year and has high hopes of doing it again.

The main sponsor of the Rock-It Kids was Rock-It Games, a Metairie business. Now, the business has no income. Plus, they lost all their equipment and their practice field.

“We have at least ten feet of water in my house, we lost everything in my room…my jersey, pants, mask, elbow pads, extra barrels, paint,” said Andrew Rodriguez, Rock-It Kid freshman. Matthew Hotard, team captain, added, “It [Katrina] split us all up and we were working really hard at World Cup…we still don’t know where all of our guys are.”

A quick respond of paintball community to the needs of the team shows that hope is not lost yet. Advantage PB, a paintball supply sales company, has set up a PayPal account on its website in which anyone can help the Rock-It Kids get to World Cup. The site www.paintballstar.com allows visitors to post messages of support.

People believe that the Rock-It Kids are not out and are eager to help them continue forward with their World Cup aspirations.
